  control is a key element of Trustworthy AI. It raises practical questions
  that are highly relevant for actors developing\, deploying or using AI sy
 stems: How can humans understand\, monitor and intervene in AI-supported p
 rocesses? When is human oversight meaningful\, and when does it risk becom
 ing a mere formality? How can responsibilities and oversight mechanisms be
  designed in practice?In this interactive 1.5h session\, we will explore t
 he topic of human control. Participants will work with their own AI or pre
 -selected use cases and reflect on oversight approaches such as human-in-t
 he-loop\, human-on-the-loop and human-in-command. Key topics include:Huma
 n control as a core element of Trustworthy AIHuman-in-the-loop\, human-on-
 the-loop and human-in-command in practiceChoosing appropriate oversight mo
 dels for different AI use casesPeer exchange on practical implementation c
 hallengesRisks of ineffective oversightImportant: Participants are asked t
 o bring a concrete AI use case from their own work or project context. Thi
 s use case will serve as the basis for the interactive exercise and peer d
 iscussion during the workshop. There will be pre-selected use cases availa
 ble for those participants not bringing a case with them.Target audienceTh

 tive session.SpeakersPeter Biegelbauer (AI Factory Austria AI:AT Legal & E
 thics team)PD Mag. Dr. Peter Biegelbauer\, S.M.\, is responsible for ethic
 s at the AI Factory Austria AI:AT. He is a Senior Scientist at the Center 
 for Innovation Systems & Policy at the AIT Austrian Institute of Technolog
 y in Vienna. Peter Biegelbauer heads the AIT AI Ethics Lab\, which deals w
 ith the ethical aspects of artificial intelligence and responsible innovat
 ion and has published the “Guide to Digital Administration: AI\, Ethics\
 , and Law” on behalf of the Federal Chancellery. He is also deputy head 
 of the AIT AI Taskforce\, which aims to integrate AI solutions into the AI
 T. Peter Biegelbauer has published more than a hundred articles on policy 
 analysis\, policy evaluation\, responsible innovation\, knowledge and expe
 rience in decision-making\, impact assessment\, and opportunities for lear
 ning from experience.Rodrigo Conde Jiménez (AI Factory Austria AI:AT Leg
 al & Ethics team)Rodrigo is a PhD Researcher at the Center of Innovation S
 ystems and Policy of the Austrian Institute of Technology. He holds a B.A.
  in International Relations from the Corvinus University of Budapest\, as 
 well as a Master of Public Administration from the Central European Univer
 sity. His work and research experience showcase his interests in technolog
 y regulation\, as well as in the development and analysis of policymaking 
 processes in the field of Innovation and Technology. Currently he is worki
 ng in topics related to the Governance of AI\, and AI Ethics\, and is writ
 ing a dissertation on the multilevel governance of AI. He also is a member
  of the AIT AI Ethics Lab.Pia Weinlinger (AI Factory Austria AI:AT Legal 
 & Ethics team)Pia Weinlinger\, MA\, is Expert Advisor at the AIT Austrian 
 Institute of Technology and holds a Master’s degree in Science\, Technol
 ogy and Society Studies (STS)\, specialising in governance\, innovation an
 d sustainability. Pia Weinlinger is a member of the AIT AI Ethics Lab\, wh
 ich addresses the ethical aspects of artificial intelligence and responsib
 le innovation. She specialises in responsible innovation and is co-author 
 of the “Guide to Digital Administration: AI\, Ethics and Law” on behal
 f of the BKA. Her research focuses on AI ethics and governance\, in partic
 ular ethical impact assessments\, requirements for the responsible develop
 ment and application of AI\, and the translation of (ethical) guidelines i
