 ews is that such risks can be minimised through embedding human rights con
 siderations from the beginning. But how is this done? This webinar provide
 s an accessible and practical introduction into the creation of fundamenta
 l rights compliant and better AI for the benefit of everyone. Microsoft
 ’s first chatbot in 2016 spit out racist comments within a few hours. Fa
 ce recognition failed on black people\, particularly women. The Dutch tax 
 authorities had used algorithms that mistakenly labelled around 26\,000 pa
 rents as having committed fraud in their childcare benefit applications. T
 o avoid such mistakes from the outset\, the European Union has created reg
 ulation that requires providers and deployers of AI systems to consider ri
 sks related to fundamental rights when developing and using AI in various 
 areas. But what are fundamental rights\, and why would the use of technol
 ogy\, such as AI\, create problems? Is an assessment of fundamental rights
  impact just an additional burden or can it truly help making better AI? 
 This webinar provides an accessible introduction of what fundamental right
 s are and how they related to the use of AI. It discusses theoretical and 
 real threats to fundamental rights and provides an accessible way forward 
 about how to assess and mitigate risks that stem from the use of AI. It al
 so provides a brief overview of fundamental rights related safeguards incl

 f the Data and Digital Sector at the European Union Agency for Fundamental
  Rights (FRA). The Data and Digital Sector\, within the Justice\, Digital 
 and Migration Unit\, hosts most of FRA’s work on artificial intelligence
  (AI)\, data protection and online content moderation. David coordinated a
 nd co-authored several FRA reports on AI\, including the reports on AI and
  fundamental rights\, Getting the future right and Bias in algorithms\, as
  well as on Online content moderation. He is the FRA representative in the
  AI Act Advisory Forum and participates in several other policy processes 
 that support the fundamental rights compliant regulation of digital techno
